Welcome to ITAT Bar Association

President’s Message

It is a privilege to serve as President of the ITAT Bar Association, Delhi—an institution distinguished by intellectual rigour, independence of thought and steadfast commitment to the administration of justice.

From its inception, the Association has been shaped by stalwarts such as Late Shri G.C. Sharma, Senior Advocate; Late Shri O. P. Sapra, Advocate, Shri S.C. Vasudeva, FCA, Shri K.Sampath, Advocate, Shri M.S. Syali, Senior Advocate; Shri Anoop Sharma, Advocate; and other eminent leaders who laid the foundation of a bold, fearless and constructive professional body. Their vision established this Bar as a vigilant and principled voice whenever issues arise affecting the functioning of the Tribunal or the integrity of tax adjudication.

Our Study Circle remains the intellectual backbone of the Association. The depth of analysis, incisive discussions and participation of leading advocates and chartered accountants make it a benchmark for professional excellence. Equally commendable is the monthly journal, where dedicated members sift through hundreds of Tribunal orders to present significant rulings for the benefit of the fraternity. This collective effort reflects the scholarship and commitment that define our Bar.

Seminars, national conferences, Bench–Bar meetings and the annual cricket match foster not only professional growth but also camaraderie and institutional harmony. These traditions, inherited from our predecessors, continue to strengthen dialogue and mutual respect between the Bar and the Bench.

“I wish all Members well. Keeps this Institution going. Good Luck.”

I must acknowledge the unwavering support of the Managing Committee—Shri R.S. Ahuja, Shri Ranjan Chopra, Shri Gurmeet Grewal, Shri Rajeev Sabharwal and Ms. Priti Goel whose professionalism, clarity and commitment have been instrumental in sustaining the Association’s standards. The presence of experienced professionals on the Committee serves as a guiding force and moral compass, ensuring that our decisions remain principled and institution-centric.

Over the decades, this Association has performed a stellar role—as a watchdog when required, as a forum for skill enhancement, and as a bridge between the Bar and the Bench. Its credibility rests on balanced representation, scholarship and institutional responsibility.

As we move forward, our commitment is to preserve this legacy while strengthening the Association in numbers, intellect and purpose. With collective effort and integrity, the ITAT Bar Association, Delhi will continue to remain a beacon of excellence in tax litigation.

Shri Ajay Wadhwa, Advocate

President, ITAT Bar Association
